Jammu, December 30: BJP leader and MLA Jammu East, Yudhvir Sethi, inaugurated the 18th Christmas Gold Cup Football Tournament 2024-25 at Mini Stadium Parade Ground, Jammu. Organized by the All J&K Sports & Culture Welfare Association under the aegis of J&K Football Association, the tournament aims to promote sportsmanship and foster unity among the youth of the region.In the opening match, Pegasus F.C. delivered a stunning performance, defeating United F.C. Ladakh with an impressive margin of 7-0. The star players included Samad, who scored in the 15th, 25th, and 50th minutes, and Mahi, who added a goal in the 68th minute. Illiyas contributed significantly with goals in the 16th and 26th minutes and Rizwan showcased his brilliance by scoring in the 46th minute. Speaking on the occasion, Yudhvir Sethi lauded the organizers for their dedication to nurturing talent in football and other sports. He emphasized the importance of such events in channeling the energy of the youth toward constructive activities, thereby contributing to a healthier and progressive society. Sethi also reiterated the BJP’s commitment in fostering sports culture in Jammu and Kashmir as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a ‘Fit India’.The event witnessed the presence of notable dignitaries, including Rev. Hemant, the digital in-charge of St. Paul Church; Anil Gupta, Senior Vice President of CCI Jammu; Rajesh Gupta, Secretary CCI Jammu; and prominent community leaders like Kuldeep Singh, Surinder Singh, Anil Masoom ex Corporator, Ramesh Chander, David, Yousuf, Rajesh Sumbria, Kamaljeet Kumar, Peter, Mohd Shuja and Saudagar Mattoo. The next matches in the tournament will feature Poonch F.C. against Kathua F.C., and Jammu Sports locking horns with Young Star, promising more exciting action in the days to come.
