Congress leader Ankur Dogra expressed serious concern over the prolonged uncertainty faced by NHM employees, saying their demands for regularisation, job security and fair service conditions cannot be ignored. Dogra said NHM employees are a critical backbone of healthcare delivery, particularly in rural and remote areas, where frontline workers provide essential services to vulnerable communities. He said keeping them in prolonged professional insecurity despite their vital contribution reflects a serious failure of governance and accountability.
The protest was launched under the leadership of Dr. Mohd. Amin Itoo, President, NHM District Ramban, along with Vice President Dr. Pradeep Parihar. Dr. Anirudh, Medical Officer, was also present.
Dogra said the situation points towards a wider crisis in rural healthcare governance, where staff shortages, instability and administrative delays directly affect ordinary people.
He urged the J&K Government to immediately engage with NHM employees and address their legitimate demands through a transparent and time-bound process.
He also called for concrete measures to ensure uninterrupted healthcare services in rural and remote areas, stressing that frontline health workers must be provided dignity, security and fair working conditions.
Dogra said a government committed to protecting the health rights of rural and vulnerable communities must also safeguard the interests of those delivering healthcare on the ground. He appealed to the administration to act without further delay and restore confidence among NHM employees.
