Samba welcomes first batch of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 pilgrims

SAMBA, JULY 01:
The District Administration Samba today accorded a warm and traditional welcome to the first batch of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 pilgrims at Tapyal, marking the commencement of the annual pilgrimage through the district.
Deputy Commissioner Samba Ayushi Sudan, along with Senior Superintendent of Police Anuj Kumar, received the devotees and extended their greetings. Local residents also joined in welcoming the pilgrims, reflecting the district’s tradition of hospitality.
Interacting with the pilgrims, the Deputy Commissioner conveyed her best wishes for a safe and comfortable pilgrimage. The District Administration, in coordination with the Police, Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board, Religious Langar Organisations and other stakeholder departments, has made comprehensive arrangements for boarding, lodging, healthcare, sanitation, security and other essential services for the Yatra.
The pilgrims appreciated the arrangements and expressed gratitude to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, the District Administration Samba and the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board for the facilities provided.
Among those present were Additional District Development Commissioner Champa Devi Thakur, SDM Ghagwal KJS Bali, senior officers of the civil and police administration, security forces, representatives of Religious Langar Organisations, religious leaders and prominent citizens.

Following the welcome and interaction, the pilgrims resumed their onward journey towards Jammu under security arrangements.
