Ramnagar, Oct 20:
Residents of Suienty village in Tehsil Ramnagar of Udhampur district have urged the concerned authorities to urgently intervene and undertake comprehensive repairs of the Government Primary School building, alleging that the institution has remained in a dilapidated condition for the past 18 years.
The prolonged deterioration of the school building has raised concerns among local residents, who have called upon the Education Department and district administration to assess the condition of the structure and initiate necessary repair and renovation work without further delay.
According to residents, the school building has remained in poor condition for nearly two decades, highlighting the need for immediate administrative attention to ensure that children have access to a safe and suitable learning environment. They have expressed concern over the prolonged delay in addressing the issue and urged the authorities to treat the matter as a priority.
The residents stressed that government schools in rural and far-flung areas play a crucial role in providing education to children from economically diverse backgrounds. They said the condition of school infrastructure should not become an obstacle to children’s education and called for adequate measures to maintain the building and provide essential facilities.
Seeking intervention from the Chief Education Officer, Udhampur, the concerned Zonal Education Officer and the district administration, the villagers demanded an on-site inspection to assess the extent of damage, followed by the preparation of a time-bound plan for repairs.
They also urged the authorities to ensure that the school premises meet the necessary safety requirements and that any structural deficiencies are addressed by qualified personnel before they pose a risk to students and staff.
The residents maintained that the issue requires concrete action rather than further assurances, emphasising that the prolonged wait for repairs has made administrative intervention increasingly necessary.
They appealed to the Lieutenant Governor’s administration and the Education Department to take cognisance of their concerns, allocate the required funds and ensure that the school receives the attention needed to provide children with a safe and conducive educational environment.
The villagers are now awaiting a response from the concerned authorities, hoping that their long-pending demand will lead to tangible improvements in the school’s infrastructure and prevent further delays in addressing the condition of the government institution.
