Jammu, Mar, 26:
MLA JammuEast Yudhvir Sethi attended the Annual Urs Mubarak of Hazrat Baji Mohi-ud-Din, popularly known as Kaka Baji Sahib, held at Baji Abad, Brawal in Jammu with great religious fervour and devotion.
The spiritual gathering was organized under the blessings of Baba Noor Jamal Wali and presided over by Baji Qibla Tahir Jamali, while guidance was provided by Zain Din Khatana. Choudhary Haroon Khatana, Ch. Haroon Terwa, Mufti Nazir Ahmed, Khushal Baji, Molvi Farooq besides a large number of devotees from different parts of the region participated in the Urs, offering prayers and seeking blessings. Speaking on the occasion, Yudhvir Sethi said that earlier, the Bakarwal community used to receive transport facilities for moving their livestock, but these services have been discontinued since the NC government came to power in J&K.
Sethi said that the Gujjar and Bakarwal communities are an integral part of Jammu and Kashmir’s rich cultural and social fabric, known for their hard work, resilience, and significant contribution to the rural economy. He noted that these communities, especially the Bakarwals, depend heavily on seasonal migration along with their livestock, for which transport facilities had earlier provided crucial support.
He expressed concern that since the NC government came to power, these transport conveniences have been discontinued, causing hardship to the community.
“Our Gujjar and Bakarwal brothers have always lived a life of dignity and struggle, contributing immensely to the economy through livestock and traditional practices. It is our duty to support them and ensure their needs are addressed,” he said.
Sethi further stated that he will strongly take up the matter with the Omar Abdullah-led government and urge them to restore the transport facilities at the earliest, so that these communities can continue their traditional livelihood without difficulties. Highlighting the importance of such spiritual events in promoting communal harmony and strengthening social bonds, Sethi said, “The Urs of revered saints like Kaka Baji Sahib reminds us of the timeless values of peace, brotherhood, and unity. These gatherings bring people together beyond all differences and reinforce our shared cultural heritage,” he said. He further emphasized that Jammu has always been known for its rich spiritual traditions and inclusive culture. “It is our collective responsibility to preserve and promote this legacy of harmony and mutual respect, which has been the foundation of our society for generations,” Sethi added.
The MLA also appreciated the efforts of the organizers in making elaborate arrangements for the devotees and ensuring the smooth conduct of the event. He interacted with locals and devotees, extending his greetings and wishing peace and prosperity for all. The Urs witnessed devotional recitations, prayers, and religious discourses, creating a spiritually uplifting atmosphere throu ghout the event. Devotees expressed deep reverence and participated wholeheartedly in the ceremonies.
The presence of prominent religious figures and community members added significance to the occasion, reflecting the continued impor tance of such events in preserving spiritual values and fostering unity in society.
