GGM Science College NSS Volunteers Visits Home for the Aged and Infirm

NSS volunteers of GGM Science College visited the Home for the Aged and Infirm at Ambphalla, Jammu as part of their community service programme. During the visit, the volunteers interacted with the elderly residents, listened to their life experiences, and spent quality time with them. The visit aimed to provide emotional support and companionship to the residents while sensitizing students towards the needs and concerns of senior citizens. The programme was conducted under the patronage of Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal, GGM Science College, who emphasized the importance of community service and encouraged students to actively participate in activities that promote social responsibility, empathy, and care for the underprivileged.
The Home for the Aged and Infirm, which provides shelter, care, and support to elderly and infirm persons, warmly welcomed the NSS volunteers. Dr. Dinesh Gupta, Secretary of the Home, Er. Pankaj Gupta, President, and Rajinder Singh, MCM, interacted with the volunteers and apprised them of the various services and welfare activities being undertaken for the residents. They also highlighted the importance of societal support and collective efforts in ensuring the well-being and dignity of the elderly.The activity was coordinated by Dr. Neha Sharma and Dr. Rahul Kait, NSS Programme Officers, who guided the volunteers throughout the visit and encouraged them to uphold the values of service and compassion. Prof. Poonam Kundan also accompanied the team and interacted with the residents, making the visit more meaningful and engaging. The visit proved to be an enriching experience for the volunteers, fostering a deeper sense of empathy, respect, and commitment towards community service, in keeping with the NSS motto, “Not Me But You.”
